A stable, adherent lubricant film for demanding forming operations
When deep-drawing and bending complex components, the lubricating film must function reliably between the die and the workpiece, even under high surface pressures and with complex geometries. At the same time, the lubricant should be applied as sparingly and evenly as possible, while requirements for residue-free further processing and the avoidance of certain additive groups are becoming increasingly important.
Wax-based forming lubricants are often applied as an aqueous dispersion and dry to form a thin, evenly adhering lubricating film. This film remains on the metal surface during forming and helps ensure reliable separation of the friction partners. At the temperatures generated during the process, the wax components can further contribute to the lubricating effect.
