When Conventional Lubricants Reach Their Limits
In demanding forming processes, high surface pressures, severe frictional loads, and high thermal stresses act on the die and the workpiece. Especially when machining high-alloy materials and stainless steel, weld buildup, adhesive wear, surface defects, or cracks can occur. Complex component geometries, high degrees of forming, and multi-stage processes further increase tribological stress and can significantly narrow the usable process window.
Chlorinated forming lubricants are designed for applications where conventional lubricant formulations do not perform adequately. Under high pressure and temperature conditions, the chlorinated additives help form a stable separating layer between the die and the workpiece. This reduces friction and direct metal-to-metal contact while increasing process reliability during the most demanding forming operations.
Chlorinated forming lubricants can, in particular, help to:
- to reliably produce complex shapes and achieve high degrees of forming in a process-reliable manner
- to expand the usable process window in high-load forming processes
- To reduce weld buildup and adhesive tool wear
- to help ensure consistent component quality even under extreme process conditions
For highly complex forming operations
Raziol Chlorinated Forming Oils
Raziol chlorine-containing forming oils are based on selected base oils and high-performance additive combinations containing long-chain chlorinated paraffins. They are designed for forming processes involving very high surface pressures, intense friction, and extreme tool loads. Their high lubricity and pressure-bearing capacity ensure reliable separation between the die and the workpiece and help reduce wear, welding-on, and surface damage.
These products ensure a high degree of process reliability, particularly in the forming of stainless steel, and expand the usable process window. Thanks to their high performance, they enable the achievement of complex geometries and high degrees of forming that cannot be achieved—or can only be achieved with limited process reliability—using less effective lubrication concepts.
Application
- Precision cutting, deep drawing, stretch forming, and punching, as well as thread forming
- Machining of steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and non-ferrous metals
- Extremely demanding single- and multi-stage forming and machining processes involving high surface pressures and extreme tool loads
- To expand the usable process window at high forming ratios
To ensure a precise application of lubricant, Raziol can apply chlorinated forming oils (depending on the specific process requirements) using suitable roller-chain lubricatorsor spray systems.
Features
- Very high lubricity and pressure-bearing capacity for forming processes involving extreme mechanical and tribological loads
- High-performance chlorinated additives containing long-chain chlorinated paraffins
- Different viscosity grades for specific adaptation to the material, forming process, and process requirements
- Excellent adhesion and wetting properties for even distribution of lubricant on the tool and workpiece
